Declarative examination of Sotapanna-fruition

Deliverance of mind as the fruition-consciousness to the path of Sotapatti
At the fruition-consciousness to the path of Sotapatti we find the fire element rises from the lower abdomen and incinerates components of the mental atmosphere. Consider this a complement to the following passage from the Comprehensive Manual of Abhidhamma:
‘The path consciousness of stream-entry has the function of cutting off the first three fetters -- ‘personality view’ or wrong views of self, doubt about the Triple Gem, and clinging to rites and ceremonies in the belief that they can lead to liberation. It further cuts off all greed, hatred and delusion strong enough to lead to a sub-human rebirth. This citta also permanently eliminates five other cittas, namely, the four cittas rooted in greed associated with wrong view, and the citta rooted in delusion associated with doubt. One who has undergone the experience of stream-entry is assured of reaching final deliverance in a maximum of seven lives, and of never being reborn in any of the woeful planes of existence.’ (Bodhi, 2000. pg 67)
To elaborate. At the invasion of the mind by the kleshas, there is a ‘reaching up’ from the tanden due the afflictions. This ‘reaching up’ as a treacherous influence can be synaesthetically seen by the noble disciple. At the perfection of mindfulness there is direct observation to threat of invasion of the mind by the kleshas. This invasion of the mind by the kleshas happens across the space of the abdomen, neck, and cranium. At the invasion of the mind, structions to the mental atmosphere as nodes are stimulated by the kleshas, exciting or activating the nervous system to signal musculature for conduction of behavior. (Behavior is discursive convulsion.)
At the attainment to the fruition-consciousness of the path of Sotapatti, the fire element rises from the lower abdomen stretching into the cranial region at the front of the face. In this moment there is incineration to the nodes of the mind which are stimulated in effect due cognition of an adverted object. Thus what is happening is a diminution of the faculties to a contingent and afflicted mental atmosphere. Consequently the path that is supramundane should be seen as a reduction.
The taints are not destroyed. But there is deliverance of mind. This series of determinations in the consciousness-aesthetic can be repeated, so it is possible to sit around in deliverance of mind. The experience is such because it is not possible for the kleshas to invade the mind any longer due to the incineration, and so the heart is delivered up from their affect.
The mind is delivered from the taints but the taints are still there. The higher supramundane paths then deal with observational citation of the alter-cognitive influence that the kleshas still have on the noble disciple. Consequently insight and contemplative reasoning concerning arrival at the fruition-consciousness of the three higher supramundane paths are adjusted and more mature or refined than heretofore for the noble disciple.
Furthermore, we see the importance of deliverance of mind depending on incineration, as all compounded things are subject to cessation. The inability of the kleshas to stimulate the nodes renders the influence of the kleshas less extant. The consciousness-aesthetic thus is permanently purified beyond a certain threshold, and the mind has been partially diminished.

What we see after the incineration is unshakeable deliverance of mind. It is a categorical impossibility for the invasion of the mind by the kleshas to occur. This must be established and understood by the noble disciple in order to confidently declare it. For there is temporary deliverance at tranquility of third jhana, whereby the taints or repressed or non-arising for thirty-six hours.
The mind is incapable of being affected by the kleshas. This is why the Sotapanna cannot be reborn in any lower state. Because the mind cannot be invaded by the kleshas, there is no stimulation of the nodes in the mental atmosphere to incite the nervous system to the conduction of behavior which intentionally so devised harms a human being. Thus the Sotapanna is incapable of killing and the attainment to the fruition-consciousness of the path of sotapatti is the greatest accomplishment in the living world.
The taints are still there. But because it is with the mental rod that we furnish our actions with intent, incineration of the mental nodes as liaison between cognition of an adverted object and the nervous system makes it functionally impossible to carry out an intended behavior unbecoming of a Sotapanna. After incineration of the mental nodes, over the course of time the stream-winner experiences retracted volitional capacity as electrical stimulation of muscle fibers from the nervous system ‘draws back’ and is conformed to rapture.
Conformation to rapture of retracted volition is the fuel for the meditative contemplation necessary to reach the three higher path attainments.
