Ask Adam a Q and get an A.
Q. If Nibbana is Unconditioned, how do we condition ourselves to reach it?
A. It appears that metaphysically Nibbana is Unconditioned. But when we consider Nibbana to be the accruition of Rapture to permanently attenuate mindfulness in order to prevent the arising of obscurations / taints, then Rapture is what accrues to reach the Unconditioned. Rapture of course is one of the seven factors of enlightenment.
Q. When does consciousness become mind?
A. It might help to think of these links more as atoms with circling subatoms. There are correspondent or concomitant, deep-seated psychic feelings like guilt and shame from previous deeds, etc. Taken in this way, we can see that a statement startling can be that consciousness comes from failed volition. it's failure you're conscious of. Mind comes later as perception used to find tools for escape. Volition is trying -- to escape. 'I'm just sayin, is all.'
Q. Why is Sakadagami only to return once?
A. Another way to phrase this question is, Why is he not a non-returner? The answer to that question is that there are two cittas rooted in hate that are destroyed at the Anagami stage. Hatred, then, is why the Sakadagami 'returns'. (Perhaps to Judge the Earth). More thoroughly however, the Anagami disaffects space as a primary mode of intuition. This such disaffection yields transcendence of this world. Hatred can also be tantamount to excessive ambition.
Q. What does it mean to transcend?
A. To approach nonduality, which requires rapture. But in a lesser and everyday context, we need to transcend our mistakes as well as our decisions and ambitions. That is, we need to leave the past behind. We do this through refinement of the consciousness through rapture, which allows us to be greater than we were when we first commissioned ourselves to previous actions or committed ourselves to this or that view.
Q. What's it mean to say that the guru takes the last chicken wing?
A. What it means is that when we have several practitioners together eating chicken wings, it's a pattern that if there's only one wing left that nobody due to humility will take it. The guru takes it.
Q. Is it more ethical to lie, or to plead the fifth?
A. Lying. Pleading the fifth already makes you suspect. It's a trap. If you can pass a polygraph, you can lie. Fifth grade, man.
Q. What's your view on demonic possession?
A. Trans-neurotic fits. That's what those are. The human person has equipped through the genome and kammic fields various potentials, and some of those are kinesthetic and vocal. There's memory from previous lives about how to articulate, vocalize a language foreign to the agent. Of course we also know that supernormal powers are real. Walk on water? Try climbing the wall, or spider-walking down the stairs ;) (and you aint f'ckin Spiderman!)(.terror#pissyourself.scream.i-saw-it-at-five.cruel-siblings) / 'demonic possession' is due repressed impulses.
Q. Can you explain permanent attenuation?
A. Permanent attenuation refers to rapture permanently attending mindfulness to prevent the arising of any afflictions. Think of it as a permanent metaphysical refinement of consciousness. This is also another answer to the question of why the Sakadagami is a once-returner, for he does not have the rapture of a non-returner (Anagami).
Q. What's it mean to say he travels in this body as far as the Brahma world?
A. This indicates not only meditative signs for the Sotapanna, but non-return as a Brahma-state which is due to refinement of consciousness to experience a surreal, sublime 'adoption' by Brahma.
Q. What is transcendental exorcism?
A. Destruction of the three lower fetters. It is through issuance of the Fire element which incinerates various regions of the mind. Transcendental exorcism has a neighbor of course, which is eliminative retribution. Transcendental exorcism is the disarming of the enemy or the vacation of the mind from the influence of the taints. Eliminative retribution is when there is Fire at will, eliminating various structions of the mind responsive w/r/t the development of intent and exertion of will. The result is a body-witness state whereby the agent is now a Stream-enterer, and various portions of the personality problem (ie personality view) are solved through Fire, ie personality view. It takes time.
Q. Is mind destroyed at cessation of perception?
A. Suppose we call perception namarupa. The answer to the question requires a very much more precise vocabulary. It wouldn't be untrue to say that the mind is destroyed at cessation of namarupa, but it would be relative annihilation. The truth lies somewhere between relative annihilation and relative eternalism, but this such truth cannot be conveyed using any known method of communication. Entering Nibbana is a private event. Just as consciousness is not responsible for experience, so also mind can be understood to relatively cease due to it being represented through a variety of structions which mediate the capacities of intent to the central nervous system (CNS).
Q. What is Deceptive Integration?
A. Deceptive integration is to establish new laws without breaking old ones. It is recognizing the illusory nature of paper-trail delineation which is rooted in fear of compassion and excessive withholding. Withholding information is find, provided somebody somehere is learning something or other. It don’t matter that the half-lady is Mexican, or if three’s a company to a black crack addict: we are all one, and let’s do what we shall and forget surveillance to the party.
